Our tours include English speaking guide, transport on air conditioned private car or van, booking at wineries.
Wineries are usually chosen among the most representative in the selected area. We usually choose one big, well known winery, and a smaller family run winery so that you will get a better idea of various production systems and method typical of Italy. Nevertheless if you have a favourite winery that you would like to visit we will be happy to arrange a visit there.
The tour will start from the train station closest to the selected wine producing area.
We can also arrange transport from Piazzale Roma in Venice.
The typical half day winery tour lasts approximately 3 hours and allows to visit 2, maximum 3 different wineries.
With a full day tour (approximately 6 hours), up to 4, 5 wineries can be visited. There will also be time for lunch in a typical local restaurant serving traditional recipes.
Valpolicella
Valpolicella is one of Italian most famous wine producing areas and one of the oldest. The name derives from Latin Vallis Polis Cellae meaning valley of many cellars. The wine produced here was already highly appreciated in ancient Rome. Valpolicella top wine is Amarone a unique wine made with a particular wine making technique: appassimento. After harvest, grapes are left to dry for four month before squeezing the bunches. The wine produced is then aged between 2 and even 7 years to obtain a full bodied, dry but yet round and supple red wine, a real "meditation wine", definitely one of the best in the world.
Being such an old wine producing area, in Valpolicella there are some of the oldest wineries in Italy, some of them are hosted in gorgeous Renaissance and Baroque style villas that can be also visited during the tour. Also check www.amaronetours.it.
Soave
Soave is Italian most exported white wine produced in the valleys and on the hills surrounding the middle age village of Soave on the Eastern side of Verona territory. Soave is a fresh, light white wine, perfect with Italian antipasti and fish dishes.
A winery tour in Soave will include also a visit to the 14th century castle and village.
Lake Garda Wines
On the beautiful hills surrounding Lake Garda vine is grown and there are many different wine producing areas: Bardolino (medium bodied, fresh and fruity red wine), Custoza (light fresh white wine) and Lugana (structured and mineral white wine). With a half day tour it is possible to visit both a winery and one of famous lake Garda villages such as Sirmione, Lazise, Bardolino, Punta San Vigilio.
Prosecco
Prosecco is one of the most popular Italian sparkling wines, well known for its fruity taste and its charming lightness. In Veneto, prosecco is paired with salami, risotto, polenta, but is also drunk as aperitif.
With a wine tour in Prosecco wine producing area you'll have the chance to visit the cellar where prosecco i made and also the picturesque area that lies around Valdobbiadene, just an hour’s drive from Venice.
